UNAMA Presentation on Child Protection in Afghanistan
Dubai, 10 January 2010
- International Humanitarian City (IHC), the global humanitarian hub created by the Government of Dubai under the Directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and chaired by HRH Princess Haya, was host to a presentation on the safety and security of children in Afghanistan on January 10th, 2010.
The presentation was organized by United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), which is currently based in the World Food Programme (WFP) offices in International Humanitarian City, Dubai.
Dee Brillenburg Wurth, Child Protection Advisor UNAMA, gave the talk on child protection in Afghanistan and the impact of armed conflict on children (Resolutions 1612 and 1882) with facts and figures.
Ms. Makiya Al Hajiri, CEO of International Humanitarian City, was pleased to attend the presentation and emphasized on the importance of the issue. According to her, “Child protection is an essential element of UNAMA’s humanitarian activities, and should be taken seriously by all humanitarian organizations and/or governments.”
