The First Conference For The Hosting Countries Of World’s Humanitarian Hubs

In line with its vision as “The Pioneering Humanitarian Hub,” IHC takes on a leading role in advancing a global intergovernmental network of sister humanitarian hubs. This strategic initiative aims to boost the collective efforts of the humanitarian community around the world, focusing on emergency preparedness and response, as well as fostering innovation and sustainability in humanitarian actions.
IHC’s pivotal role in this visionary assignment is rooted in its commitment to innovation, exemplified by the Humanitarian Logistics Databank. The ultimate goal is to harness the power of this Databank on a global scale, facilitating seamless information sharing among the 11 humanitarian hubs and building a net zero sustainable humanitarian supply chain, making the humanitarian industry, once again, an example of conviction, ethics, and innovation.
In the current condition of our world, we find ourselves entangled in complex humanitarian issues and urgent queries. Acknowledging this reality, we understand the responsibility of serving as the globe’s safety net, a system of eleven hubs strategically scattered worldwide. United, these hubs serve as steadfast pillars, providing both support and rapid aid to assist those in dire situations while simultaneously playing a role in diminishing our shared carbon footprint. Our collective influence is heightened as we fortify connections, enhance efficiency, and administer prompt and purposeful aid.
In alignment with this commitment, last December during COP28, IHC, in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), organized the First Conference for Hosting Countries of the World’s Humanitarian Hubs. The conference brought together representatives of the UAE, Spain, Panama, Malaysia, Cameroon, Italy, and Jordan. The annual event holds global significance under Sustainable Development Goal 17; it reinforces partnerships among hosting countries that have established a network of humanitarian sister hubs.
HE Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, emphasizes the critical role of climate change in intensifying humanitarian emergencies. Her Excellency stresses the need for timely adjustments and collective efforts and highlights the significant innovative role of IHC in establishing a network of humanitarian hubs and cities.
HE Abdulla AbdulRahman Al Shaibani, Member of the Board of Directors at Dubai’s International Humanitarian City, emphasizes the importance of partnership in achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. HE Al Shaibani underscored that effective preparedness and response actions require collaboration among humanitarian organizations, the private sector, academia, and host countries – all united towards a common objective.
The Conference also serves as a platform for proactive discussions on supporting the humanitarian community, sharing best practices, and defining common approaches for cost-efficient humanitarian action. Delving into the impact of climate change on emergency response, the humanitarian aid supply chain, and the role of technology and digitalization, aiming to shape a more sustainable future for humanitarian action.
